SOCAR plans to eliminate gas loss

Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR plans to bring the level of loss of the country's gas distribution network to a zero rate in the future, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev told reporters on Saturday.

He said the loss volume has considerably decreased in recent years. Earlier it was 23 percent, and this year SOCAR plans to reach the standard rate of 9 percent.

"After that, we plan to raise the issue of bringing the losses to world level," Abdullayev said.

Abdullayev said complete upgrade of the gas distribution network of Baku and Absheron Peninsula is planned in order to achieve this goal. SOCAR plans to continue to implement various projects in order to bring this figure to zero.

SOCAR's Azerigaz Production Association is engaged in gas transportation and distribution in Azerbaijan.
