Azerbaijan hikes oil transportation fees

Azerbaijan’s pricing body has raised the fee for transporting oil through pipelines to 6 manats (about $7.7) per ton from 2.6 manats, the Tariff Council said on its website Wednesday.

The new fee, which does not include exports and value added tax and was introduced under Azerbaijani state oil company Socar’s proposal, went into effect on January 1.

The Council explained the increase by the need to bring it into compliance with the level of incurred costs and investments in the pipeline system due to the transfer of the Baku-Novorossiysk northern route pipeline to a Socar department.

It also said no increases are expected in the prices for gasoline and diesel fuel due to the measure.
