Azeri SOCAR, Statoil to co-produce oil abroad
Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR plans to cooperate with Norwegian Statoil Hydro in the production of oil abroad, SOCAR president Rovnag Abdullayev told journalists.
Commenting on the meeting held with Statoil Hydro’s CEO Helge Lund in Baku on Thursday, Abdullayev said his company intends to cooperate with the Norwegian oil giant in regions around the world.
"Statoil has projects in the North Sea, and we have projects of our own. And we are holding discussions to establish cooperation in this area," the SOCAR head said.
Abdullayev said SOCAR already operates in a number of countries, including Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine and Romania.
"Our operations mainly involve sales. Now, we have decided to undertake [oil] production in other countries, other regions of the world," Abdullayev added.
