Azerbaijan sees trans-Adriatic pipeline as potential Southern Corridor route
Azerbaijan sees the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) as a potential route for transporting its gas to Europe as part of the Southern Corridor of pipelines, Deputy Energy Minister Natig Abbasov said Monday.
Abbasov said that currently, the resource-rich South Caucasus republic is exporting its gas to Greece and also supplying it to Georgia and upgrading the neighboring country’s gas network.
The deputy minister said 700,000 to 800,000 barrels per day of crude is being exported to world markets from Azerbaijan following "technical measures" carried out on main export pipelines.
Abbasov added that the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Romania Interconnector (AGRI) project -- which envisions transporting liquefied gas through Georgia and the Black Sea to Romania -- and the Odessa-Brody pipeline project -- which aims to build an extension of the oil pipeline to Plock and Gdansk -- will boost Azerbaijan’s export potential.
