Socar, BUE Caspian launch new ship
The alliance of Azerbaijani state oil company Socar’s Caspian Oil Fleet and Scottish BUE Caspian on Wednesday commissioned a supply ship to provide services to BP Azerbaijan, which implements major energy projects in Azerbaijan.
The opening ceremony was attended by SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev.
The Caspian Provider ship is the 16th in a row delivered to the Caspian Sea under a contract that Caspian Oil Fleet - BUE Caspian Alliance signed with BP Azerbaijan.
The ship, built at Simek plant in Norway, is 73.4 meters long and 16 meters wide.
Caspian Provider will provide services to the platforms located on the BP-operated Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli block of offshore oil fields and Shahdaniz gas-condensate field.
In 2012, two towing vessels are to be delivered to Baku to provide services to BP Azerbaijan.
