Azerbaijan, Turkey still drafting gas transit deal – envoy (UPDATED)
Azerbaijan and Turkey were expected to sign a transit deal to ship Azerbaijani gas to Europe in late September, but drafting of respective documents has not yet been completed, the Turkish ambassador in Baku told journalists Monday.
Hulusi Kilic said, however, that there are no obstacles in the ongoing talks on the agreement and it will be signed as soon as the papers are ready.
Azerbaijan is negotiating to sell Turkey 6 billion cubic meters of gas per year during the second phase of developing the giant Shahdaniz field in the Caspian Sea and to ship 10 bcm to European customers via Turkey.
