Azerbaijan considers oil supplies to Eastern Europe states

BAKU – Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR negotiates with the Czech Republic and Slovakia to supply Azerbaijani oil to the markets of these countries, SOCAR's deputy vice-president Vitaly Beylarbayov said.

"The negotiations with the Czech and Slovak parties on the delivery of Azerbaijani oil are at a preliminary stage," he said. "Of course, there is mutual interest and technical capabilities. It is necessary to turn this interest into a commercial agreement. It will be quite real to supply Azerbaijani oil [to these countries]."

He earlier said that about 45 percent of Azerbaijani oil is sold in the Mediterranean market. About 20 percent more is sold in North America.

Today, the work is underway to create the Eurasian oil transportation corridor. Ukraine, Poland, Lithuania, Georgia are interested in implementing this project.

SOCAR also considers the prospects for oil supplies to Hungary.
