Azerbaijan says ready to export gas to Bulgaria from 2014
BAKU – Azerbaijan is ready to export 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year to Bulgaria from 2014, Energy Minister Natig Aliyev has said.
He said in a meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Traicho Traikov held on the sidelines of the Crans Montana Forum in Brussels that the South Caucasus republic could begin transporting the volume to the country after the gas networks of Turkey and Greece are linked and the second stage of developing Azerbaijan’s giant Shahdaniz field in the Caspian Sea is launched, according to Bulgaria’s energy ministry.
The ministry said that over two months Azerbaijan’s state energy firm Socar and Bulgaria’s state-owned gas operator Bulgartransgaz will continue holding talks on routes for gas supplies to Bulgaria and southeastern Europe.
