BAKU – Azerbaijani-Turkish joint venture SOCAR-Turcas has received a license for the wholesale of natural gas in Turkey, according to SOCAR, the Azerbaijani state energy firm.

The petrochemicals company’s license was granted for 30 years by Turkey’s body in charge of the domestic energy market.

The JV, run by SOCAR, is one of the Azerbaijani government’s biggest assets abroad. In 2007 SOCAR-Turcas bought 51 percent of stock in Petkim, one of the largest petrochemical enterprises in the region with a strategic importance for Turkey.
