Azerbaijan to double gas exports to Syria in 2015
BAKU – Azerbaijan intends to double the volume of natural gas to be exported to Syria, president of the Azerbaijani state energy firm SOCAR has said.
Rovnag Abdullayev said that from 2012 the South Caucasus republic will sell 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year to Syria, with the volume to reach 2bn cubic meters in 2015.
Abdullayev added that Azerbaijan was negotiating technical issues related to transporting its gas through Turkey's territory and tariffs with the country’s state-run Botas company.
Azerbaijan currently exports its gas to Turkey, Russia, Georgia and Iran.
