US engineering firm opens office in Azerbaijan
BAKU – URS Federal Services International, a company of the US engineering company URS Corporation, has opened a representation in Azerbaijan.
The Baku-based office was registered by the government in early August.
URS Corporation, incorporated in 1957, is a provider of engineering, construction and technical services. The company offers planning, design, engineering, construction, operations and maintenance to public agencies and private sector clients around the world.
Since 2000, URS has been providing services for design and construction for BP on two major pipelines stretching from Azerbaijan to Turkey through Georgia: Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum. When working on these projects URS assesses the impact of construction on the environment and people, archeology, hydrogeology, clean air, etc.
