Turkey may use unmanned aircrafts for pipelines’ security

BAKU – Turkey is planning to use unmanned aircrafts in security of oil and gas pipelines.

The Turkish energy and interior ministries are currently holding talks on the possible use of unmanned aircrafts to ensure the security of oil and gas pipelines in the country.

The Turkish officials decided to set up a special system for pipelines’ security and are planning to discuss the issue with the officials of TUBITAK, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, as well as TURKSAT, the country’s satellite operator company.

The oil and gas pipelines in Turkey are currently guarded by the gendarme forces in compliance with the agreement reached between BOTAS and Gendarme Forces of Turkey, Turkish Zaman newspaper reported.

However, the recent terrorist attacks on the pipelines forced the Turkish government to reconsider the security issue again.

The energy and law-enforcement officials decided to use real-time control system implemented in the security of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export route for other pipelines as well.
