Gas exports to Georgia resume
Azerbaijan resumed gas exports to Georgia on Saturday, head of the
state-owned gas producer Azerigaz said. Alikhan Malikov told
reporters that the company would export daily 1.3 million cubic
meters of gas to the neighboring country. The volume of supplies in
2008 has yet to be determined. The issue is to be considered in
December, Malikov said.
Georgia refused to import gas from Russia in 2006 after the latter raised the price. The neighboring South Caucasus republic currently meets its domestic demand with gas imported from Azerbaijan.
