Azeri oil reaches Vietnam
BAKU - First Azeri oil has been exported to Vietnam under the agreement signed between Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR and Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation (Petrovietnam) earlier this year.
The tanker carrying Azeri crude sailed off the coast of Vietnam on Wednesday, Vietnamese newspapers reported.
Under the contract, SOCAR will export 65,000 barrels of oil to Vietnam in August, while BP will supply the same amount of crude.
The Azeri oil will be refined at Vietnam’s Dung Quat refinery where it will be mixed with oil produced at the Bach HO field in southern Vietnam.
SOCAR and PetroVietnam signed a memorandum of cooperation on April 8, which was followed by the signing of a long-term agreement on the sale of Azeri oil to Vietnam between the PetroVietnam and SOCAR Trading Singapore, SOCAR’s trading company for Asian countries.
