SOCAR, US firm sign up for waste recycling project
Azerbaijan’s state energy firm SOCAR and US MI LLC company
signed in Baku on Thursday a contract to prepare a feasibility
study for the reconstruction of SOCAR's waste recycling centre and
establish a waste management system.
The document was signed by SOCAR Vice-President on environmental
issues Soltan Aliyev, and MI Vice-President Sven Maikranz.
The feasibility study will be prepared within six months, after
which SOCAR will independently carry out operations on overhauling
the center.
While developing the feasibility study, experts will choose
appropriate technologies for waste processing depending on the
amount of waste accumulated as a result of operating SOCAR's
enterprises.
Maikranz told the signing ceremony that the focus will be not on
waste recycling, but on its re-processing.
Operations under the project are being carried out under the
$572,000 grant agreement signed by SOCAR and US Trade and
Development Agency (USTDA).*
