Azerbaijan yet to achieve steady non-oil sector growth: IFC
Azerbaijan has yet to achieve sustainable development of its non-oil economy, says the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the World Bank's private-sector lender.
"Per capita non-oil exports make up only $124. Azerbaijan is behind a number of African countries on this indicator," Boris Divjak, an IFC project manager, told reporters in Baku Thursday.
Divjak believes the alleged lack of conducive investment climate is an inhibitor of Azerbaijan’s economic growth. "First of all, state oversight of entrepreneurship and support for small and medium-sized business should be transparent."*
