Azerbaijan ready to supply oil for Odessa-Brody pipe
Azerbaijan is ready to ensure transportation of up to 5 million
tons of oil through the Odessa-Brody pipeline, the Azerbaijani
ambassador to Ukraine Talat Aliyev said.
The crude will be further delivered to the NefteHimik Prikarpatiya and Galchina refineries in Western Ukraine, he said in a meeting with the country's fuel and energy minister Yuri Prodan on Friday.
Prodan, for his part, said related issues, including diversification of the transportation of energy resources, will be tabled at a summit on energy security in Kiev this May.
The Azerbaijani envoy said the country's state oil company SOCAR was interested in implementing projects on refining oil in Ukraine and the exports of energy resources to energy-hungry European markets.
Aliyev also suggested establishing a joint venture to deal with the transportation of Azerbaijan's crude to Ukraine. Prodan replied that he would personally attend to the matter.
President Viktor Yushchenko has said Azerbaijan will build a refinery in Ukraine. He told a local TV channel that Azerbaijani oil would be refined in the enterprise, saying he had discussed the issue in a meeting with his counterpart Ilham Aliyev during the Davos forum last week.
