Norway’s Equinor will hold public hearings on environmental
impact assessment (EIA) of seismic surveys at Ashrafi-Dan
Ulduzu-Aypara prospective structures in the Azerbaijani sector of
the Caspian Sea, Trend reports.
As previously reported, 2D/3D seismic survey on this structure
is planned for this March, and is expected to have an approximate
duration of 42-45 days (8-9 days for 2D and 34-36 days for 3D).
A seismic vessel, along with security and auxiliary vessels,
will be involved during the survey.
Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR and Statoil Azerbaijan (part
of the Equinor group) signed a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA)
for the Ashrafi-Dan Ulduzu-Aypara (ADUA) exploration area on May
30, 2018.
The ADUA exploration area is located around 50 kilometers east
of Baku, around 14 kilometers to the east of Azerbaijani mainland
(Absheron peninsula), and approximately 7 kilometers to the east of
Azerbaijan’s Pirallahi and Chilov islands, in water depths varying
between 20 and 225 meters.
