Companies from the Bashkortostan Republic of Russia may establish production of oil equipment and caustic soda in Azerbaijan.

This issue was discussed at the meeting of the republic’s delegation members with the Deputy Economy Minister of Azerbaijan Niyazi Safarov. The delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister Farhad Samedov is in Baku to participate in the 25th International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition.

During the meeting, the parties stressed the need for pharmaceutical and chemical products in Azerbaijan. Samedov noted that Bashkortostan has a strong production and scientific potential in petrochemistry and pharmaceuticals.

The delegation also discussed the prospects of energy cooperation with the Energy Minister of Azerbaijan Parviz Shahbazov. He noted that Azerbaijan is interested in energy equipment produced in Bashkortostan and technological innovations in petrochemistry.

The volume of trade between Azerbaijan and Bashkortostan amounted to about $18 million in 2017. Bashkortostan supplies Azerbaijan with wood and chemical products, equipment for oil and gas industry, ferrous metals and their products, as well as glass, agricultural and food products. Azerbaijan, in turn, exports agricultural products, food and other goods to Bashkortostan.

Currently, there are six enterprises with Azerbaijani capital in the sphere of agriculture, hotel business, catering, construction and trade operating in Bashkortostan.
