Signing of Nabucco deal may be put off again
The signing of an intergovernmental agreement may
again be postponed on implementing the Western-backed Nabucco
pipeline that will pump Caspian gas to Europe bypassing Russia,
Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Taner Yildiz, has
said.
The signing of the agreement has been put off several times. The consortium, established to build the pipeline, earlier declared that the intergovernmental agreement would be inked in Istanbul on June 26.
However, Yildiz told the Turkish press that prior to signing the agreement it was still necessary to solve some outstanding problems. Therefore, it has not been ruled out that the signing may be postponed until July, he said.
The Turkish minister did not reveal what the unsettled issues were but added that there were a total of five to six problems remaining to be agreed upon.
