Security officers crack down on gang led by cop
The National Security Ministry of Azerbaijan has
neutralized a group that is said to have been engaged in
trafficking large quantities of drugs, headed by a police officer
in Ganja, the country`s second largest city, law enforcement
sources said.
During the operation to crack down on the gang, led by Maj. Elsever Nabiyev, an employee of the call center at the city`s Nizami district police department, several persons were detained, but Nabiyev managed to escape. Search is currently underway to seize him.
16 kg of narcotics were impounded during the operation as well.
The National Security Ministry has confirmed the development, saying data on the case has been forwarded to the Interior Ministry.
