President Aliyev meets with U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs
Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has met Thomas Shannon, the U.S. Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs as part of his visit to Washington.
The sides discussed successful development of Azerbaijani-U.S. relations in various fields during the meeting.
Addressing the event, President Aliyev hailed the results of his visit to the United States. The head of state said the visit and meetings held during the trip contributed to the elevation of the bilateral relations, which were based on strategic cooperation, to a new level.
Shannon, in turn, said the U.S. attaches great importance to relations with Azerbaijan, as well as expressed hope that the bilateral ties in a variety of areas would continue to expand.
The sides also exchanged views on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and prospects for cooperation in the fields of energy, economy and trade.
