Top diplomats may discuss in Baku coordination in oil sector
By Aynur Karimova
Moscow does not rule out that coordination in the oil sector can be discussed in a Baku meeting of foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran.
Grigory Karasin, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister announced about this while talking to local media on April 1.
"When three foreign ministers meet, no forbidden topics exist. They may discuss all the issues, which are interesting to the participants of this meeting," Karasin said, replying to a question whether the FM's will discuss coordination in the oil sector.
Baku will host a trilateral meeting of Elmar Mammadyarov of Azerbaijan, Sergey Lavrov of Russia and Mohammad Javad Zarif of Iran, who are expected to discuss issues of mutual interest, as well as implementation of bilateral and trilateral projects, including the North-South transport corridor.
Earlier, Mammadyarov said that his Russian counterpart will visit Azerbaijan in early April. The ministers of the two countries were expected to discuss the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
However, no specific remarks have been made over visit of Minister Javad Zarif to Baku. Taking into account that Iran has already confirmed its participation at the April 17 Doha meeting of OPEC and non-OPEC states, one can expect that recent developments on the oil market to be among hot topics of the Baku meeting.
