Authorities `ready for dialogue` with opposition
Azerbaijani authorities are ready for dialogue with
the opposition, a senior lawmaker has said.
Ziyafat Asgarov, First Vice-Speaker of the Milli Majlis (parliament), told reporters that President Ilham Aliyev had also stated that the authorities were ready for such discussions.
He added that those issues to be discussed during the government-opposition dialogue should be determined in advance.
Local media have been circulating reports saying authorities intend to launch the long-awaited dialogue with opposition representatives. The talks might be related to the process of settling the Armenia-Azerbaijan Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh conflict and changes to the country`s Constitution.
