Hundreds thousands of young people in Azerbaijan will mark the Youth Day on February 2.
Azerbaijani youth comprise about 30 percent of the country's total population, numbering more than 9.6 million people. Youth, who are considered as the driving force of every society, take a leading and important role for the future of the country.
The Culture and Tourism Ministry announced that it will hold several events across the country to mark the Day. They will be able to enjoy different concerts, exhibitions, excursion and competitions organized between January 29 and February 3.
The Youth Day takes its origin from the first Youth Forum held
in 1996. A year later, national leader Heydar Aliyev signed a
decree according to which 2 February was declared the Day of
Azerbaijani Youth.
From that time Azerbaijan became the first country among the CIS
and Eastern Europe states to solemnly celebrate this day.
Today the youth policy has become an important part of the state policy in Azerbaijan. The young people are active in the implementation of different projects, initiatives and scaly developments. They are good athletes, talented musicians and successful inventors.
