President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on December 30 on allocation of one-time financial aid in the amount of 50 manats ($32) to the families receiving targeted social assistance.

The one-time aid will be allocated on the occasion of the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis and New Year.

For this purpose, the head of state instructed to allocate 5.3 million manats ($3.4 million) from the Reserve Fund of the President envisaged in the state budget for 2015.

The Finance Ministry was instructed to undertake the transfer of these funds to a special account of the State Social Protection Fund, while the State Fund was instructed to ensure the payment of one-time financial aid to the families. The Cabinet of Ministers was entrusted to resolve the issues following the decree.

The country’s government constantly carries out relevant measures to keep the social problems of low-income families in focus and resolve them. In this regard the targeted social assistance is of significant importance.

Currently, 114,000 families or approximately 500,000 people receive targeted social assistance. The government provides assistance to each family in the amount of 153 manats ($98.1).

Some 47.5 percent of citizens (231,179 people) receiving targeted social assistance is under the age of 18. Some 5,561 of them are children under one year who monthly receive additional social assistance in the amount of 45 manats ($29). Also, some 28.2 percent, or 31,727 families receiving targeted social assistance, have three or more children.
