Defense minister visits military units on front line
By Sara Rajabova
Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov visited the country’s frontline military units amid the escalation of situation on the contact line of Armenian-Azerbaijani troops.
Hasanov and other officials of the Ministry have inspected the combat readiness and social conditions of the military personnel. The minister was informed that the personnel serving in the posts in high mountainous areas are supplied with packaged foods, including national dishes, belongings, fuel and heating.
He also visited a command observation post located in one of the units, where he was informed of the operational situation and ongoing defense activities, and toured the Front Management Center. Later, Hasanov awarded a group of military servants distinguishing in service and presented precious prizes to them.
Last week, the Armenian military increased the provocative moves on the frontline, however, forced to retreat after the strong response of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
Azerbaijani Army has destroyed two Armenian drones while they were attempting to fly over the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. The Ministry repeatedly warned that Azerbaijan’s army will take retaliatory measures to destroy positions and military objects of the enemy.
Talking to the servicemen, Hasanov said the Azerbaijani army will inflict more crushing blows on the Armenian armed forces.
“The entire army of the enemy is currently fighting against a small portion of our army. Unless our lands are liberated from occupation, we will continue to fight to death for every inch of our land,” Hasanov said at opening ceremony of newly-built military unit in the country.
He noted that Azerbaijan’s aim is to drive invaders out of its lands. “We will continue to carry out this task in a more severe way. Sooner the invaders realize that they have to get out of our lands, the fewer losses they will suffer,” the minister underlined.
The Defense Ministry leadership frequently visits the frontline military units to check combat readiness of the servicemen, who frequently face enemy sabotages and attacks. The country also regularly holds military drills to check the training level and fighting capability of the army.
Standing strong against Armenia's unceasing operations along the line of contact, the Azerbaijani leadership empowers the military and has moved to formulate the necessary armament policy by adhering to international requirements.
Azerbaijan's military build-up is in line with the country's legal right to liberate its occupied lands by means of war, should it be necessary.
Azerbaijan's internationally recognized Nagorno-Karabakh territory turned into a conflict zone following Armenia's aggression in the early 1990s. As a result of an armed invasion, 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory fell under Armenian occupation. Nonetheless, the OSCE has attempted to foster a peaceful resolution to this conflict amid Armenia's persistent derailment.
