President Aliyev highlights importance of energy projects

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Chief Executive Officer of Italy's Snam Company Carlo Malacarne have exchanged views on the issues related to prospects of cooperation with this Italian company.
Speaking at the meeting held in Baku on September 23, President Aliyev expressed hope that Snam Company and Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR will discuss the cooperation issues and that a Memorandum of Understanding to be signed between the two companies will define prospects of their cooperation.
President Aliyev also noted that Azerbaijan makes its contribution to the energy security of Europe, and it is possible to implement strong cooperation between Italian Snam Company and Azerbaijan in a variety of fields.
Hailing the Southern Gas Corridor as a very important project for all sides, President Aliyev said that Azerbaijan plays a leading role on this front.
Touching upon the importance of the Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline project, initiated by Azerbaijan, the head of state said Azerbaijan is actively represented in all segments of the Southern Gas Corridor.
Malacarne, in turn, noted that Snam is one of the leading infrastructure operators in Europe, and expressed his satisfaction with cooperation with SOCAR. He stressed the importance of this cooperation in terms of Azerbaijan's gas supplies not only to Italy but also to Europe.
He also highlighted the activity of the company which acts in the field of gas supplies to Europe, and emphasized the significance of Azerbaijan as a new gas supplier to Europe.
Snam is an integrated Group, operating in the regulated gas sector. With over 6,000 people, pursues a sustainable model of growth, in order to create value for all the stakeholders. Snam' strategy is focused on improving security and flexibility of the gas system as well as to meet capacity requirements in line with rising demand in the medium and long term.
