UNICEF praises fruitful cooperation with Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov met Andro Shilakadze, the newly-appointed UNICEF Representative to the country on December 17.
Shilakadze spoke of the fruitful cooperative opportunities between Azerbaijan and UNICEF during the 20-year period. He thanked Azerbaijani leadership for the conditions created for the international organizations activity.
He briefed Ahmadov on the program prepared by the UNICEF for
2016-2020s in regard with the cooperation with Azerbaijan.
Ahmadov, in turn, highlighted the efficient activity of UNICEF in
Baku. He praised the steps taken in the field of improving the
health system in the country, protecting the children`s health.
The sides discussed priorities of the new program suggested by the
UNICEF in Azerbaijan on future cooperation.
The United Nations Children's Fund - UNICEF - works for children's rights, their survival, development and protection, guided by the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
UNICEF is mandated by the UN General Assembly to advocate for the protection of children's rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential.
