Saudi Arabia hails interfaith relations in Azerbaijan
Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Baku Musaid bin Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al-Salim has hailed relations among religions in Azerbaijan as he met Chairman of the country`s State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli.
The diplomat stressed the necessity of combining efforts to fight against extremist groups amid growing radical religious trends, AzerTag state news agency reported.
Gurbanli, in turn, hailed the Saudi Arabian government`s supporting Azerbaijan`s position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
He further said that in comparison with other Islamic countries very few Azerbaijanis joined radical and extremist groups.
"Strengthening religious enlightenment, preventing the funding for radical groups and taking severe legal and administrative measures against them are very critical elements of the fight against radicalism," Gurbanli said.
The sides also discussed cooperation prospects and joint projects.
