The international community`s fight against international terrorism should start from the liberation of Azerbaijan`s Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, which are under the Armenian occupation.

Moldova's Ombudsman Aurelia Grigoriu made the remark on the sidelines of the 4th Baku International Humanitarian Forum held in Baku, AzerTag news agency reported.

She cited Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who once again urged the international community - in his opening speech at the Baku International Humanitarian Forum - to increase pressure on Yerevan to force it to withdraw its armed forces from Azerbaijan`s occupied lands.

Grigoriu further noted that the President's views were echoed by other speakers at the forum.

She said the speakers also emphasized the necessity of ensuring the liberation of Azerbaijan`s occupied territories.

Armenia occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, after laying territorial claims against its South Caucasus neighbor that caused a brutal war in the early 1990s. Long-standing efforts by U.S., Russian and French mediators have been largely fruitless so far. The UN Security Council has passed four resolutions on Armenian withdrawal from the Azerbaijani territory, but they have not been enforced to this day.

As a result of the military aggression of Armenia, over 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed, 4,866 are reported missing and almost 100,000 were injured, and 50,000 were disabled.
