First Lady awarded with medal of Russian Federation Council

Azerbaijan's First Lady and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva has met with participants of the IV Baku International Humanitarian Forum running in Baku.

Mehriban Aliyeva first met with Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, who praised the works done by the first lady.

"We are well aware of your activities as a Member of Azerbaijan's Parliament, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and Azerbaijan's Goodwill Ambassador. And you are our special guest in Russia. Your daughter Leyla has done a lot of works for youth movements in Moscow. All your family have contributed to the development and strengthening of the Russian-Azerbaijani relations," she said.

Matviyenko presented to Aliyeva a medal of the Federation Council for her contribution to the development of bilateral ties and humanitarian cooperation.

For her part, Aliyeva expressed gratitude for the award, saying the two countries have longstanding friendly relations based on mutually beneficial interests.

"I am pleased that our projects is expanding and covering a verity of fields," she said.

First Lady of Azerbaijan said the expansion of ties will continue in future.

Matviyenko praised the IV Baku International Humanitarian Forum, emphasizing its importance as a significant platform to strengthen humanitarian cooperation among the states.

The first lady also met with ISESCO Director General Abdulaziz bin Othman Altwaijri.

He also underlined close cooperation between the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and ISESCO.

Expressing his pleasure to attend the Forum, Altwaijri reminded the joint projects the foundation and ISESCO have accomplished.

He expressed gratitude to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation's president for her support for the ISESCO initiatives.

The sides emphasized the importance of the Baku International Humanitarian Forum.

Baku International Humanitarian Forum is a high-profile global scientific and political platform for tackling the challenges facing humanity in the 21st century, holding dialogue, discussions and exchange of views on a wide range of issues of humanitarian cooperation.

Well-known politicians, representatives of the socio-political circles, scholars and figures of culture are attending the two-day forum. Within the framework of the forum, the participants will make tours of Azerbaijan's regions, particularly Nakhchivan, Lankaran, Guba and Gabala on October 4-5.
