Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament suggested establishing inter-parliamentary friendship group between Azerbaijan and Nicaragua.
Ziyafat Asgarov made such an offer at a meeting with visiting Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Samuel Santos Lopez on July 9.
Asgarov said Lopez`s visit to Azerbaijan was the first high-level trip from Nicaragua to the country, and noted that this visit would contribute to expanding bilateral ties between the two countries.
He stressed the importance of the development of Azerbaijan-Nicaragua relations and the establishment of inter-parliamentary friendship group.
Asgarov briefed the minister on Azerbaijan's recent achievements on all fronts, as well as the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which erupted back in 1988 over Armenia's territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
Lopez, in turn, expressed satisfaction with his first official visit to Azerbaijan, and said ongoing rapid development processes in Azerbaijan made deep impression on him.
He also stressed the necessity of the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Nicaragua in political and economic fields. They also discussed prospects for the expansion of the bilateral ties and other issues of mutual interest.
Earlier, Azerbaijani President and Foreign Minister received Lopez.
Minister's visit to Azerbaijan will come to an end on July 10.
