Candidacy of EU Special Rep. for S. Caucasus approved

The Council of the European Union (EU) approved the candidacy Herbert Salber to the post of European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus proposed by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Catherine Ashton, the EU Council reported.
Salber previously held senior positions in the diplomatic service in Germany, he worked in Belgrade, Vienna and Moscow. He also served as head of the OSCE Centre in Almaty.
He will take his office from February 28, 2015.
Philippe Lefort currently holds the post of EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus.
