Azerbaijani IDEA, new observer member of UNEP

International Dialogue for Environment Action (IDEA) has been accepted as an observer member in the UN Environmental Program.
The UNEP is a UN agency dealing with environmentally issues. It is aimed at helping developing countries implement environment-friendly policies.
It was founded after the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment back in June 1972.
The UNEP has six regional offices in various countries. Its activities cover a wide range of issues regarding the atmosphere, marine and terrestrial ecosystems, environmental governance, and green economy.
The observer status enables IDEA to take part in UNEP's annual regional monitoring and the plenary sessions of the Committee of the Whole, to present reports to governments through the UNEP Secretariat during the sittings and consultations on the level of ministers, to voice oral declarations and so on.
IDEA is implementing several large-scale, local and international projects to protect the environment and promote innovative approaches to resolve environmental problems.
The campaign is based on the principles of dialogue, action, leadership, and education - all the essential components for equipping a generation with means of fostering positive and sustainable environmental change.
