Consultations on consular issues between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Belarus are underway in Baku, the Belarusian Embassy in Azerbaijan reported on February 25.

The Belarusian delegation is headed by the Chief of the Consular Affairs Department under the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, Igor Fisenko, while the Azerbaijani delegation is headed by the Head of Consular Affairs Department of the Foreign Ministry, Mehriban Najafova.

The representatives of migration bodies, the justice ministries of both countries, representatives of the consular offices of foreign ministries, the Azerbaijani State Social Protection Fund are also involved in the consultations.

The agenda of the consultations includes the discussion of bilateral cooperation in consular and migration issues, legal aid and protection of the interests of the citizens of Belarus and Azerbaijan, as well as sharing experience on improving the national legislation and cooperation with international organizations.

Azerbaijan and Belarus established diplomatic relations in 1993. Belarus is interested in increasing the capacity of Belarusian assembly plants operating in Azerbaijan, as well as implementation of new projects in construction, education, health, science and culture sectors.

The cooperation agreements signed between the justice ministries of the two countries in 1999 and 2012 during the Azerbaijan President's visits to Belarus made a considerable contribution to the expansion of mutual relations.
