Ice-climbing competition winners honored

Azerbaijani athletes winning the national championship of ice climbing were honored in the health club of Emergency Situations Ministry in Baku.

Head of the club, Colonel Fuzuli Musayev congratulated the athletes from "Ekstremal" team on their victory and wished them success on the international arena.

As one of the winner of the competition, Leyla Aliyeva said she has been participating in ice climbing competitions since 2009.

"Ice climbing is my most favorite sport, full of emotions, extreme and vivid impressions. All this gives me extraordinary will to win," she said the meeting.

Azerbaijan hosted the ice climbing championship on its frozen waterfalls. The competition was co-organized by the Youth and Sport Ministry and Air and Extreme Sports Federation of Azerbaijan (FAIREX), in Gusar region on February 1-2 and February 8-9.

Despite the frosty weather, 24 teams took part in the competition and showed their talents and skills.

"Ekstremal" team won the first place in the team competition. Second place went to the team "Salavat" (FAIREX), and third winner team was "Zirve" (FAIREX). Winners were awarded diplomas and prizes.

"Ekstremal" team of the Emergencies Ministry was consisted of Kamala Gahramanova, Leyla Aliyeva, Arzu Eyvazova, Atabey Khanlarov and Teymour Shahnamazov.

In 2013, Aliyeva became the second winner of the world championship.
