“Night of Azerbaijan” held in Davos

The Night of Azerbaijan under the motto "SOCAR - Energy of Azerbaijan" was held in Davos on January 22,AzerTag state news agency reported.

The Night of Azerbaijan, organized in Davos for the third time, aimed at promoting Azerbaijan in the world and presenting Azerbaijan's state energy company SOCAR to world business circles.

The event, which brought together government representatives from several countries, world media leaders, as well as businessmen, started with demonstration of the video titled "Azerbaijan - the country of the future".

Addressing the event, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev said SOCAR, a strategic partner of Davos Forum, had already become a global company.

Highlighting the ongoing development processes in Azerbaijan, Abdullayev said the country was exporting oil and gas to more than 30 countries and playing an important role in Europe's energy security.

European Union Commissioner for Energy Gunther Oettinger , in turn, spoke of the history of Azerbaijan`s oil industry, and hailed the country`s role in delivering Caspian hydrocarbon resources to the world markets.

Oettinger also stressed the importance of the First European Games to be held in Azerbaijan in 2015.

SOCAR is involved in exploring oil and gas fields, producing, processing, and transporting oil, gas, and gas condensate, marketing petroleum and petrochemical products in domestic and international markets, and supplying natural gas to industry and the public in Azerbaijan.

JVs, including the ventures in Georgia and Turkey, consortia, and operating companies established with SOCAR's participation, are doing business in different parts of the petroleum industry.

SOCAR also owns representative offices in Georgia, Turkey, Romania, Austria, Switzerland, Kazakhstan, Great Britain, Iran, Germany and Ukraine and trading companies in Switzerland, Singapore, Vietnam, Nigeria, and other countries.
