The Colombian Foreign Ministry has sent a note expressing solidarity with the Azerbaijani people in connection with the January 20 tragedy, the Azerbaijani Embassy in Mexico and Colombia reported.

The Foreign Ministry said that in connection with the events committed by Soviet troops in Azerbaijan on January 20, 1990 and which were recognized as the 'Black January' tragedy, Colombia expresses solidarity with the people of Azerbaijan and recognizes the Azerbaijani people's struggle for sovereignty which was successfully accomplished in 1991.
