An Azerbaijani student studying abroad presented a film that was shot in Turkey.

Niyazi Salimbayli, an Azerbaijani student studying in Cyprus Near East University ended shooting "Karabakh" in Turkey, Azertag news agency reported.

The Youth Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan sponsored shooting the movie, prepared jointly with the Azerbaijani and Turkish students.

The short 18-minute film, which is about the Karabakh war, aims to show the realities of the war once more.

Armenia occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, after laying territorial claims against its South Caucasus neighbor that caused a brutal war in the early 1990s. Long-standing efforts by US, Russian and French mediators have been largely fruitless so far.

As a result of Armenia's military aggression, over 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed, 4,866 are reported missing, almost 100,000 were injured, and 50,000 were disabled.

The film stars Turkish actors, including Sitkiye Devgum, Sems Cetin, and Nigar Umudlu. Actors from Ukraine, Iraq, Northern Cyprus, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan also played pivotal roles in the film.
