The Heydar Aliyev Center intends to hold another art exhibition at the end of December.

Organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the "Baku" magazine, the "Fly to Baku: Contemporary Art from Azerbaijan" exhibition will come to Baku on December 27.

As part of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s activities aimed at popularizing Azerbaijan around the world, the exhibition opened for the first time in London in January, 2012. The exhibition has been held in cultural centers such as Paris, Berlin, Moscow, Rome and Vienna in the last two years.

Leyla Aliyeva, the initiator of the project and vice president of the foundation, noted in the preface to the exhibition catalog that the main objective of the exhibition is to demonstrate the level of the development of contemporary art in Azerbaijan.

The exhibition aims to provide information about the immense progress achieved by Azerbaijan through contemporary art.

"Today, we can proudly say that we have successfully completed this mission," Aliyeva stressed.

Aliyeva said the exhibition, which was held in London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow , Rome, and Vienna, and will be finally held in Baku, demonstrates the diversity of the palette of human emotions and the technical skills of composition. It also proves that Azerbaijan's modern art is considered a part of the global contemporary art.

"I am sure that this exhibition will once again show the high professionalism of Azerbaijan's modern art and will contribute to the rich cultural traditions of the country," she said.

The exhibition's coordinator Herve Mikaeloff stressed that this project would provide an opportunity for assessing Azerbaijan's promising modern art.

The exhibition will feature more than 100 works by 21 Azerbaijani artists in various genres such as painting, sculpture, installation, video art, performance, and photography. Most of the works were created especially for this exhibition.

Works by Altay Sadykhzadeh, Leyla Aliyeva, Museib Amirov, Adil Yusif, Zarnishan Yusif, Aliyar Alimirzayev, Rashad Alakbarov, and others are displayed at the exhibition, successfully presenting Azerbaijan's contemporary art which is a mixture of Western and Eastern cultures.

The final "Fly to Baku" exhibition will be held at the center until March 1, 2014.
