By Sabina Idayatova

Building of a tram line is scheduled to start in Ganja in 2014 by France's New TL, according to the Executive Power of the city.

One tram wagon will measure 25 meters by 2.20 meters and weight 23 tons. Maximum speed of the tram will be 70 kilometers per hour. Tram wagons will be in blue color. The tram's wheels will be covered in rubber to reduce noise. Some 12 stations will be on the tram's route. An electronic board displaying arrival time will be installed in each of them.

The height of the wagon will be 3.12 meters and weight 23,800 kg. It will have traction power of 2x220Kv, average acceleration of 1.3 m/s2, an average service braking of 1.5 m / c2, and an emergency braking of 3 m/s2. The tram line will run 6.5 km from the railway station to the hospital complex. The total passenger capacity of the tram is 212 people. It is scheduled to run 13 trams which will serve 35000 - 40000 passengers from 6.00-24.00 daily (18 hours).

Plans to run the tram line on one side of the road in both directions, near the sidewalk will optimize road space, and ensure minimum inconvenience for residents and traffic.

Construction of a bike path parallel to the tram`s route is also scheduled. Bikes can be rented at each station.

New TL provides a 25 year guarantee for the tram. Similar trams were also opened in Paris and Venice.
