Azerbaijan to set up education development fund

The Azerbaijani Education Ministry intends to establish a fund for the development of education, Education Minister Mikail Jabbarov said at a business meeting on September 26, which was organized by the U.S.-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM).

"The fund will operate in Azerbaijan and at the international level," Jabbarov noted.

He emphasized that using information technology in education opens up great opportunities.

About 1,695 schools are connected to high speed Internet in Azerbaijan.

Jabbarov called upon businessmen to take part in providing professional career for Azerbaijani students emphasizing that provision of professional career for students remains top priority for the country's educational system.

"It is very important to extend cooperation between educational institutions and businessmen in this regard," he noted. "We can achieve good results if business community remains loyal to the principle of social responsibility and becomes more active in the process of professional growth of young people."

The minister also called upon AMCHAM members to provide scholarship for students, to organize summer practice and to ensure employment after graduation.
