Minister Mammadyarov to join UN General Assembly’s session
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov will head an Azerbaijani delegation at the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly at UN Headquarters in New York, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Elman Abdullayev said at a briefing on September 18.
Abdullayev said that media outlets will be provided with additional information about the meetings and speeches of the Foreign Minister.
According to Abdullayev, Mammadyarov will attend debates and will hold bilateral meetings within the visit.
The General Assembly (GA) is the main deliberative, policymaking and representative organ of the UN.
Decisions on important questions, such as those on peace and security, admission of new members and budgetary matters, require a two-thirds majority. Decisions on other questions are by simple majority.
