Armenian ceasefire breaches keep tension high on frontline
The Armenian Armed Forces opened fire at positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces located at nameless heights in the territory of Tovuz region from the positions located in the village of Aygedzor of Armenia's Berd region on Sept.12-13, Azerbaijani Defence Ministry told Trend on Friday.
Also, positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces were fired from the positions located near the occupied villages of Chayli of Tartar region, Tapgaragoyunlu of Goranboy region, Garakhanbeyli, Ashagi Veyselli of Fizuli region, Kuropatkino of Khojavend region and Garagashli of Agdam region.
The shooting was countered by return fire.
The precarious cease-fire between Azerbaijan and Armenia was reached after a lengthy war that displaced over a million Azerbaijanis and has been in place between the two South Caucasus countries since 1994. Since the hostilities, Armenian armed forces have occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The UN Security Council has adopted four resolutions on Armenia's withdrawal from the Azerbaijani territory, but they have not been enforced to this day.
