President Aliyev visits southern regions (UPDATE-3)

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev toured the country's southern regions on September 4.

The president first arrived in the Salyan region and started his visit by laying flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the city centre.

Head of Salyan Region Executive Authority Tahir Karimov informed the president that the reconstruction work in the Heydar Aliyev Park began in 2011.

The park covers a total area of 22,000 square meters. The monument to the national leader was made by People's Artist Natig Aliyev.

President Aliyev also visited the Flag Square in Salyan.

The President was told that construction of the square started this June and finished in August. The square, which occupies a total area of 2.1 hectares, lies on (National Hero) Nazim Babayev Street. The flag there waves on a 42 m-high pole. The flag is 20m long and 10 m wide.

There is a park in the square.

Later, the president inaugurated the Heydar Aliyev Center in Salyan.

Prior to the inauguration ceremony, President Aliyev met with local residents. Honorary Teacher Yagut Alasgarova and Honorary Culture Worker Yaver Jabrayilov thanked the president for his attention to the development of Salyan.

President Aliyev was told that the three-storied building occupies a total area of 626 square meters.

The president toured the center, which houses exhibition halls, administrative rooms, an electronic library, computer and information rooms, and a photo studio. The center will offer dancing, drawing, foreign language and chess courses.

The president also inaugurated a new administrative building of Salyan Region Executive Authority. The three-storied facility occupies a total area of 1,800 square meters. There are offices, a guest room, a conference hall, and a central control room in the building.

Later, President Aliyev arrived in the country`s Bilasuvar region.

The President started his visit by laying flowers at a monument to national leader, former President Heydar Aliyev.

Head of Bilasuvar Region Executive Authority Mahir Guliyev informed the President about the construction work in the Heydar Aliyev Park. The park covers a total area of two hectares.

During the visit, the president also attended a ceremony to pump drinking water to the city of Bilasuvar.

The president spoke to local residents prior to the ceremony.

Chairman of Azersu water supply company Gorkhmaz Huseynov informed the head of state about the "Reconstruction of water supply and sanitation system in Bilasuvar Region" project.

He said the project was aimed at improving the water supply and sanitation system for a total of 26,000 people by 2035.

"Under the project, water is pumped to Bilasuvar from a new source, Shirvan-Mughan group pipeline. We built a 57 km-long main water pipeline and two 10,000 cm water reservoirs to ensure continuous water supply to the city," he said.

The president viewed stands reflecting the scheme of the water supply and sanitation system in the Bilasuvar region.

President Aliyev also cut a ribbon to officially inaugurate the new administrative building of Bilasuvar Region Branch of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP).

There are 15 offices in the two-storey building. There is a bust to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the lobby of the building, as well as photo stands highlighting the national leader's and President Ilham Aliyev`s NAP-related activities.

Bilasuvar Region Branch of NAP was established in 1993. It currently has 4,440 members, of whom 27 percent are women and 25 percent are youth.

The president also opened the Heydar Aliyev Center in Bilasuvar on September 4.

The Center features photos, books and other documents about national leader Heydar Aliyev. There are photo stands reflecting the lifetime and activity of Heydar Aliyev.

The three-storey facility has an internet cafe, a dance studio, a conference hall, a 3D movie theatre, a 330-seat auditorium, a drawing room, a chess room, an e-library, and a photo studio. A bust to Heydar Aliyev was installed there.

The Azerbaijani President also inaugurated the new administrative building of the Bilasuvar Region Executive Authority.

The old building was constructed in the 1950s and had been used as the headquarters of the Executive Authority since 1992. The construction of the new building was launched in July 2012 and ended in July this year.

President Aliyev was told that the three-storey facility, built on the Heydar Aliyev Avenue, was provided with the necessary equipment. Eight service rooms and a 40-seat cafeteria are located on the first floor of the building, while a conference hall and 10 service rooms are on the second floor. A large assembly hall and 13 service rooms are located on the third floor. Numerous landscape gardening and greenery, decorative elements and a modern lightening system were placed in the area.

The president examined the center of prompt control for direct video communication with representatives of city and rural territorial divisions.

President Aliyev also visited the Jalilabad region on September 4.

The head of state started his visit by placing flowers at a monument to Heydar Aliyev in the city center.

The President officially inaugurated Garazenjir-Garakazimli-Baykhanli road in Jalilabad.

The president viewed photo stands showing the construction work, as well as the technical indicators of the facility.

On September 28, 2012, the President issued an order on primary allocation of 2 million manats from the President's Reserve Fund for the construction of the highway.

The construction of the road, which is 34 km in length and 8 meters in width, started last October. The road will connect 25 residential areas with a total population of over 50,000 people.

President Aliyev also attended the opening of "Fidan" orphanage-kindergarten in the Jalilabad region.

The president toured the kindergarten, which houses a medical room, a canteen, and entertainment and music halls.

President Aliyev also opened Jalilabad Region Central Hospital.

The President toured the hospital, and then spoke to its medical staff and members of the region`s general public.

Doctor Nazakat Nazarli expressed gratitude to the president on behalf of Jalilabad residents.

President Aliyev also visited the country's Yardimli region. He laid flowers at the monument to Heydar Aliyev.

Head of the Yardimli Region Executive Authority Sevindik Hatamov informed the president about the reconstruction and redevelopment work carried out in the Heydar Aliyev Park.

The president opened the Heydar Aliyev Center in Yardimli region as part of the visit on September 4.

The Center includes Heydar Aliyev Museum, a conference hall, numerous studios, printing and computer facilities, and an exhibition hall. The stands feature photos, books and other documents about national leader Heydar Aliyev, photos and archival documents highlighting the visits of Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev to the region.

The Center has a foreign language studio, a 3D movie theatre, a 40-seat auditorium, an intellectual game room and an e-library. It will arrange numerous courses for young people to develop their technological knowledge and skills.

President Aliyev also attended a ceremony of opening a new line of drinking water in Yardimli, which was organized in the Youth Park.

The park has recreation areas, wide bands of gardening, a modern fountain, and extensive greenery.

The president met with representatives of the local public.

The head of state described the commissioning of the new water supply line as a significant event and congratulated the local residents on this occasion.

President Aliyev opened a new office building of New Azerbaijan Party in Yardimli region.

The president also attended the opening of the 20-kilometer section of the reconstructed Yardimli-Deman-Arvana road.

President Aliyev cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the 46 km road with 26 water passages.

The reconstruction work started there in April. The road links 23 residential areas. The reconstruction of the road is aimed at increasing the economic and tourism potential of the region.

President Aliyev also visited the country`s Masalli region on September 4.

Head of Masalli Region Executive Authorities Rafil Huseynov informed the president about the construction work in the Heydar Aliyev Park. The Heydar Aliyev Center is located in this park.

The president cut the ribbon to officially inaugurate the Heydar Aliyev Center in Masalli region.

There is an internet cafe, a 3D cinema, drawing and photo studios, and an applied arts room, which exhibits the country`s ancient folk musical instruments and carpets, in the center.

There is also an electronic library highlighting activities of national leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev, as well as Azerbaijan`s history, literature and culture.

President Aliyev inaugurated Masalli Culture Center after major overhaul.

The building was built in 1956. The three-storey center occupies a total area of 7,300 square meters. Reconstruction work here began in 2011. There is a 358-seat auditorium in the center.

The president toured the center. He listened to performance of children`s choir. The Head of State then met local residents.

President Aliyev also attended the opening of the new administrative building of Masalli Region Branch of the New Azerbaijan Party.

The president was informed that construction of the facility started in July, 2012. The two-storey building of Masalli Region Branch occupies a total area of 2,650 square meters. The facility is provided with modern equipment.

A bust to national leader Heydar Aliyev was installed in the foyer of the building.

The facility has a 100-seat meeting hall, administrative rooms, and a conference hall.

The president cut the ribbon to officially open Masalli Regional Boxing Center.

The foundation stone for the facility was laid in 2012.

The center is designed to host trainings and other events.

President Aliyev then attended the opening of the Regional Taekwondo Center.

The ceremony to break ground for the facility took place in 2012. It occupies a total area of 5,613 square meters. The President viewed taekwondo hall here. There is a 120-man gym in the center.

As a part of his visit to the country's southern regions ,President Aliyev visited Astara region on Sept. 5.

The Head of State started his visit by placing flowers at a monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the central park.

Head of Astara Region Executive Authorities Gazanfar Agayev told the president that the Heydar Aliyev Park is one of the most favorite places of Astara residents as well as tourists.

The president officially opened Astara Region Central Hospital and inspected the conditions created at the hospital.

President Aliyev then met local residents of the region.

About 2 million manats were allocated from the President's Reserve Fund for the reconstruction of the hospital.

The Head of the State was told that the facility was provided with modern equipment.

Supreme Commander- in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev also attended the official opening of the newly constructed residential campus for the staff of the commandant of the border and frontier post, as well as the reconstructed complex of service buildings of Astara State Border Checkpoint.

Chief of State Border Service Elchin Guliyev informed President Aliyev that the newly constructed campus occupies a total area of 5 hectares. An eight-storey building has 77 apartments.

The Head of State handed over the apartment licenses to the servicemen.

President Aliyev then inspected newly reconstructed and remodeled service buildings of Astara State Border Checkpoint.

The president attended the opening of Boxing Center constructed by the Gilan Sports Club in Erchivan, Astara region.

President Aliyev was informed that construction work started here in February and ended in August 2013.

The Head of the State was told that the training hall of the center meets standards of the International Boxing Federation.

During the visit, President Aliyev also attended the opening of the Archivan-Shuvi-Alasha-Gapichimahalla road in Astara region.

The president was informed that according to a relevant Order dated July 15, 2013, a total of 3.3 million manats were allocated for the construction of the Archivan-Shuvi-Alasha-Gapichimahalla and Siyaku-Rine roads. The construction of the Archivan-Shuvi-Alasha-Gapichimahalla road worth 2,680 million manats was launched in April and was completed a few days ago.

The road is 13.5 km long, while the width of the asphalted carriageway is 6 meters wide. The road has one bridge and 20 drainage systems.

The Archivan-Shuvi-Alasha-Gapichimahalla roadl inks 17 settlements with a population of 24,000 people.
