Azerbaijan has allocated 2.35 million manat to the State Veterinary Service for strengthening preventive measures to combat farm animal diseases.

According to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers the funds, which will be used to purchase the necessary machinery, equipment, pharmaceuticals, as well as disinfectants, were allocated from the reserve fund of the state budget.

Earlier, it was reported that Azerbaijan is taking immediate measures to prevent the spread of the Bunyaviridae virus in the country as the disease caused by it is affecting cattle.

The health minister has instructed to involve experts in the field of veterinary medicine in the work and public awareness activities are being conducted.

In addition, the State Veterinary Service of the Ministry of Agriculture will ensure the distribution of 15 tons of disinfectant, caustic soda, which it has bought.

According to Head of the State Veterinary Service Siala Rustamova, the main symptoms of the new virus are general deterioration of the cattle's condition, fever, and misbirth. Overall, this leads to a sharp decline in productivity. However, the disease itself does not lead to death.

She also noted that since the first cases of the disease among the cattle, which first was recorded on July 28, 2013 and has spread especially in the Aran region, blood samples have been taken from animals.

The official exchange rate for August 30 is 0,7844 AZN / USD.
