The Azerbaijani and Poland governments will discuss prospects of economic cooperation, the Polish embassy in Baku told Trend on August 30.

The discussions will be held during the sixth meeting of intergovernmental commissions on economic cooperation which will be held in late October and early November in Baku.

A business forum is planned to be held within the meeting attended by business people of the two countries.

The construction, energy and banking sector were named as promising cooperation spheres during last year's Azerbaijani-Polish business forum.

Earlier, co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission and Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister Natig Aliyev noted that Poland has great potential for developing scientific and technical areas and creating free economic zones in the spheres of healthcare and transport.

"Relations between Azerbaijan and Poland are developing dynamically. Today they reached a new level in spite of the on-going world financial and economic crisis. There are favorable mechanisms between the two countries for cooperation and the Azerbaijani government is ready to view any proposal related to its development," the minister said.

Poland reconized the independence of Azerbaijan in December, 1991. The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in February, 1992.

According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Poland amounted to $24.19 million in the first six months of 2013.

Azerbaijan mainly exports agricultural and chemical products to Poland.
