President Aliyev inaugurates new facilities in Kurdamir region (UPDATE)

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 7 visited the Kurdamir region where he inaugurated a number of facilities, AzerTag state news agency reported.

The President laid flowers at the monument to National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the center of the city.

Head of Kurdamir Executive Authority Irshad Aliyev informed the President about the construction and landscaping work in the Heydar Aliyev Park.

President Aliyev visited the Heydar Aliyev Center in the Kurdamir region. He viewed photo stands reflecting the life and activity of National Leader, former President Heydar Aliyev, as well as visits of the National Leader and President Aliyev to Kurdamir.

The President also toured a virtual classroom. Aliyev was informed that the construction of the facility started in July 2012 and ended in July 2013.

The three-storey building of the Heydar Aliyev Center occupies a total area of 2,524 square meters.

The center has an exhibition hall, a 300-seat auditorium, an electronic library, a 300-seat conference hall, a drawing studio, a 3D cinema theater, an internet cafe, and a photo studio. It will also offer dance, sculpture and carpet-making courses.

As part of the visit, Aliyev attended a ceremony to launch drinking water supply from the Kulullu reservoir to the Kurdamir region.

The President made a speech at the ceremony.

Speaking on behalf of Kurdamir residents, chairman of the Association of the region`s Intelligentsia Sabir Novruzov thanked the President for his efforts to take overall development measures in the country, including in Kurdamir.

President Aliyev viewed photo stands reflecting "Plan of Kurdamir city water supply", "Plan of the Kulullu-Kurdamir-Ujar-Zardab" water pipeline and the work done at the Kulullu water reservoir.

Head of state-run water supply company Azersu, Gorkhmaz Huseynov, informed President Aliyev of the "Reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems of Kurdamir city" project and the Kulullu water reservoir.

He said the work under the Kurdamir water supply and sanitation project started in October 2011.

The system is capable of providing water supply and sewerage services to up to 22,300 people considering the natural growth of the town's population by 2035. In order to meet the population`s demand for pure water, it is planned to use the Kulullu water reservoir of the Aghsu region. For this purpose, it was planned to build a self-propelled central water drainage system with 32 kilometer length.

Under the project, the construction of 7,500 cubic meter water reservoir and 190 kilometers of splitting pipelines was planned. The collection and transfer of waste water will be carried out using 175 kilometers of sewerage pipes and 4 pump stations. The waste water will be transmitted to the waste water purification plant outside the city, with transmittance capacity of 6,000 cubic meters of water a day.

Kulullu water reservoir along with Kurdamir will provide Zardab and Ujar cities and adjacent residential areas with drinking water.

On the same day, President Aliyev opened a new administrative building of the Kurdamir District Executive Authority.

He was informed that construction of the building started in September 2011 and was completed in July 2013.

The two-storey building occupies a total space of 4,000 square meters and has been provided with all the required equipment.

A bust to National Leader Heydar Aliyev has been installed in the lobby of the building. It also has photo stands reflecting the activity of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President Aliyev.

The Azerbaijani leader toured the administrative building. The building has 30 rooms, a 250-seat hall, and a conference hall.

The President also viewed the Efficient Management Center. He praised the conditions provided there.

Furthermore, Aliyev viewed a stock breeding and milk complex as part of his visit to the country's Kurdamir region.

Chairman of Azersun Holding's Supervisory Board Abdulbari Gozel informed the President that construction of the complex had started in late 2011 and ended in early 2013.

He said the facility that cost 12.6 million manats (around $16 million) was constructed under the state program on socio-economic development of Azerbaijan's regions.

The complex, provided with modern technologies, will have daily production capacity of a total of 50 tons of milk. The facility will employ 140 people.

President Aliyev toured the facility and viewed the production process.
