Palestinian officials to visit Azerbaijan

A delegation from the Palestinian Foreign Ministry will visit Azerbaijan to participate in the upcoming international conference for support for the Palestinian people on June 11, Palestinian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Naser Abdel Karim told media on May 17.

The ambassador said Azerbaijan always supports Palestine in the international arena. "While organizing an international conference in Baku, it has once again demonstrated its position on this issue."

Baku will host the conference dedicated to the Islamic Financial Safety Net in June.

The issue of holding the founding conference of the Islamic Financial Safety Net to help the Palestinian people was reflected in a communiqué adopted following the 13rd summit of heads of the governments of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the Egyptian capital Cairo on February 6-7. This issue was discussed with former Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad and Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki during the visit of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov to Palestine.

It was suggested that Azerbaijan hold this conference and the country accepted the offer.
